Area teams compete for 7on7 state title
Cuero and China Spring last met in the Class 4A, Division II semifinals in 2021.
That was the same year the Gobblers last played in the 7on7 state tournament.
The teams will meet again in this yearƵs 7on7 state tournament, which gets under way at 10 a.m. Thursday at Veterans Park & Athletic Complex in College Station.
Cuero and China Spring are grouped together in the same Division II pool along with Dumas and Paris.

Bay City will be making its fourth straight appearance in the Division II tournament.
The Blackcats will play in Pool A against Brownwood, Kilgore, and Austin LBJ.
Tidehaven advanced to the championship game of last yearƵs Division III state tournament and will be making its sixth consecutive trip to state.
The Tigers will compete in Pool G against Albany, Hico, and Wolfe City.

Ganado advanced to the semifinals in last yearƵs Division III tournament, and will return for the fourth straight year.
The Indians will play in Pool C against Goldwaithe, Hale Center and Trinity.
Kenedy will be making its first appearance at the state tournament. The Lions will be in Division III Pool D with Brady, Haskell and Rio Vista.
After ThursdayƵs three pool games, the teams will be seeded for FridayƵs single-elimination championship round. Division III play will begin at 8 a.m., and Division II competition will start at 8:45 a.m.
Along with Tidehaven, Bay City and Rice Consolidated have advanced to the tournament final. No area team has won a tournament championship.
