GALENA PARKòòò½ÊÓÆµòòò½ÊÓÆµ” Victoria West's offense had its best offensive showing of the season to advance to the area round of the postseason.

In its Game 2 victory over Galena Park on the road, the Warriors scored nine runs in the third inning to roll to an 18-7 triumph to complete a bi-district sweep and advance in the Class 5A, Division I postseason.

Six Warriors had multiple hits in West's Game 2 victory. It was Aedyn Moreno, hitting in the eighth spot in the order, who was the big run producer for West. Moreno finished the game 4-for-5 with four RBIs.òòò½ÊÓÆµ

Moreno was not the only Warrior that had four hits. Hayden Michalk went 4-for-4 and had two RBIs. Starting pitcher DJ Martinez had three RBIs and Beau Woods went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help power the Warriors' offensive outburst.

On the mound, Martinez lasted 3.2 innings and allowed seven runs, although none of them were earned. Payton Brannan relieved Martinez, who pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless belief in the Warriors' run-rule victory.òòò½ÊÓÆµ

After winning Game 1 3-1 Friday at Riverside Stadium, the Warriors had momentum going into Saturday's game.

West will face Pflugerville Hendrickson next week.òòò½ÊÓÆµ

East completes comeback against Milby

Victoria East lives to fight another day, completing a comeback from 1-0 down in its best-of-three series against Houston Milby with a 9-1 victory Saturday.

The Titans advance to the area round of the postseason for a second consecutive season and will face Austin Anderson next week.òòò½ÊÓÆµ
