A fire erupted on Thursday west of Wise River, so far burning 276 acres.
An official with the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest Wildland Fire Information said the Sawlog fire is burning on Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management-Montana/Dakotas land.
BDNF posted on its Facebook that an estimated 25 firefighters are now working to put out the blaze, which had burned 200 acres on Thursday. A fire investigator has been brought on board to determine the cause. A helicopter has been used to find the fireòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s exact location and to assist ground crews with water bucket drops and mapping operations.
Fire officials said Fridayòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s operational efforts will focus on keeping the fire west of the Sawlog Road.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures for the next three days are predicted to be in the high 60s to low 70s, with cooler temperatures on Monday with a chance of rain or snow.
