A Walker Ƶ meth trafficker has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after authorities seized more than 40 grams.
The drug bust was part of Drug Task Force operation aimed at disrupting the drug trade in Northwest Georgia, the Lookout Mountain District AttorneyƵs Office said.
According to the DAƵs Office:
On Nov. 4, 2024, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force agents coordinated a controlled purchase involving Julie Abigail Manis. Prior to the transaction, DTF agents moved in and intercepted Manis, recovering three plastic bags containing more than 40 grams of methamphetamine, all packaged for distribution.
Manis was arrested and charged with trafficking meth and possession with intent to distribute. She later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections. Chief Assistant District Attorney Lynsay Chapman prosecuted the case.
ƵBring meth to Walker Ƶ, and you wonƵt leave with your freedom,Ƶ District Attorney Clayton Fuller said. ƵShe thought she was making a sale. Instead, she bought herself a decade behind bars.Ƶ
This case marks another major step in the District AttorneyƵs continued push to dismantle meth networks operating in and around Walker Ƶ. In 2021, one in three drug overdose deaths nationwide involved meth, up from one in four in 2019.
