In the last 40 years, technology has evolved at a rapid pace and so has VSC Companies. What started as a small, two-way radio business in a building on Navarro Street has grown into a business that encompasses Victoria Communications, VCS Security Systems, I.C.T., and Rocket Oilfield Services.

Itòòò½ÊÓƵ™s a blessing that was given to us to be able to serve this community for four decades,òòò½ÊÓƵ Hartman said. òòò½ÊÓƵœWeòòò½ÊÓƵ™re real big on giving back and supporting the community because we believe blessings are given to be shared.òòò½ÊÓƵ
When Hartman started in the industry in 1985, she stepped into a male-dominated field. She quickly took a hands-on approach and began to learn how to install systems and to educate herself on the equipment she used.
òòò½ÊÓƵœI couldnòòò½ÊÓƵ™t sell something I wasnòòò½ÊÓƵ™t knowledgeable about myself,òòò½ÊÓƵ Hartman said. òòò½ÊÓƵœI wouldnòòò½ÊÓƵ™t ask someone to do something I wouldnòòò½ÊÓƵ™t try to do myself. It would take me a day and a half to install a system that would take one of my guys an hour to do, but it was important to me to know how to do it.òòò½ÊÓƵ
This hands-on approach is something Hartman has passed down to her children and her employees. By having such a knowledgeable staff, the company has expanded into areas of technology and industry the Hartman family could have only dreamed of.

What set the company apart from the national retailers in town was the Hartman familyòòò½ÊÓƵ™s personal touch and the way they adapt to the needs of the community. Hartmanòòò½ÊÓƵ™s husband, Jim, worked in the banking industry, providing agriculture loans to farmers while also raising cattle on the side.
òòò½ÊÓƵœPeople knew my parents and, when they came into the store to buy their first first phone or two-way radios, I knew what they did in the oilfield. I knew what they did as farmers,òòò½ÊÓƵ Hartman said. òòò½ÊÓƵœBeing diverse, dedicated and educated about this community and the people here has been important.òòò½ÊÓƵ
Hartman said it doesnòòò½ÊÓƵ™t matter if they provide a service to a one-bedroom house or to a $100,000 warehouse, the customer service is the same. From selling security systems for residential homes and businesses to its status as an authorized AT&T seller to its involvement in the oilfield industry under the legacy nameòòò½ÊÓƵ”Rocketòòò½ÊÓƵ” the Hartman familyòòò½ÊÓƵ™s business has grown right alongside the town.
òòò½ÊÓƵœWhile starting in May 1985, I always had my husband, Jim, by my side advising. Then, having the children come in and work alongside us was a òòò½ÊÓƵ˜giftòòò½ÊÓƵ™,òòò½ÊÓƵ Hartman said. òòò½ÊÓƵœI am so proud of having the opportunity to have worked with my husband, to work with our children and now to have my grandson in our home community. This is our home base.òòò½ÊÓƵ
