Colvin will officially report to IISD as its superintendent after the 21-day state required waiting period.
The BoardƵs decision to select Colvin as the superintendent of schools lone finalist was influenced by the superintendent search survey presented to staff, parents and community members.
During the open period, 240 surveys were submitted. The survey results guided the decision making process for selecting the best superintendent candidate.
Characteristics in the ideal superintendent were identified by the community survey: Integrity, trust, an advocate for IISD, child-centered, committed to the community and a strong decision maker.
The community identified what skills they wanted the new superintendent to have: Leadership, communication, financially savvy, managerial and interpersonal.
The surveys identified IISDƵs strengths: A supportive community, academic achievement, excellent teachers and staff, supportive parents and the districtƵs reputation. The districtƵs weaknesses were identified as well: Funding, personnel, teaching and learning, facilities and community relations.
