On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Victoria Police Department was informed that it had once again achieved accredited status through the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) Law Enforcement Recognition program. The TPCA conducted an in-depth assessment of the departmentƵs policies, procedures and operations, reviewing nearly every aspect of the department before determining that the department merited this honor.

This honor has only been earned by 218 of the 2,800 police agencies in Texas, making it TexasƵ Gold Standard in Law Enforcement Accreditation. The department has held this distinction since 2009 and has continued to meet the standard in 2013, 2017, 2021 and now again in 2025.

ƵThis is a significant accomplishment directly resulting from the hard work, dedication and professionalism displayed by our department,Ƶ Young said. ƵI want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in preparing for and participating in the review process.Ƶ

The TPCA measured the department in 173 different practices, including critical areas such as use of force, citizen rights, pursuits and property management. The accreditation process is an extensive and challenging one.

ƵThis reaccreditation affirms what I already know,Ƶ Police Chief Chuck Young said. ƵWe are doing things the right way.Ƶ
